This publication stems from a desire to situate the artistic production of Gilbertto Prado and the Digital Poetics Group within a wider critical perspective, taking as its conceptual pivot the exhibition Portals, Walkways and Pomanders, presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo between September 2025 and January 2026, and curated by Ana Magalhães and Priscila Arantes. Rather than serving merely as an extension of the exhibition, this volume invites a broader reflection on the significance of the artist’s journey for the development of contemporary thought at the intersection of art and technology.
Bringing together essays by scholars, critics, and curators from Brazil and abroad who have followed the artist’s work for many years, the book goes beyond documenting the exhibition. Instead, it uses the exhibition as one of many possible points of entry into a body of work distinguished by continuous experimentation, the articulation of diverse fields of knowledge, and the creation of poetic and technological ecosystems.

Esta publicação nasce do desejo de colocar em perspectiva a produção artística de Gilbertto Prado e do Grupo Poéticas Digitais, tomando como ponto de inflexão a exposição Portais, Passadiços e Pomanders, apresentada no Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo entre setembro de 2025 e janeiro de 2026, com curadoria de Ana Magalhães e Priscila Arantes. Mais do que um desdobramento da mostra, o volume propõe uma reflexão ampliada sobre a relevância da trajetória do artista para a constituição do pensamento contemporâneo em arte e tecnologia.
Ao reunir um conjunto de ensaios de pesquisadores, críticos e curadores, em âmbito nacional e internacional, que acompanham há anos a trajetória do artista, o livro não se limita à documentação da exposição, mas a toma como um entre muitos pontos de acesso a uma produção marcada pela experimentação contínua, pela articulação entre diferentes campos do saber e pela construção de ecossistemas poéticos e tecnológicos.
